Cabbage Soup Diet

Cabbage soup and some low-calorie food eaten every day for a week will definitely help you lose weight quickly. You will get a limited pick of foods that will be monotonous, lack nutrition and be low in calories.
The diet has been around for many years, in many different interpretations. Though many authors have wrote their versions, we don't know who came up with the idea in the first place.
It contains no specific guidelines, no behavior suggestions, no recommendations to change habits and says nothing about exercise. The foods that are required to eat can only be prepared at home.
It claims by following the diet you will lose 10 pounds in 1 week and then you must come off it, for nutritional reasons. Advice is wait a couple of weeks before you do it again.
Allowable Foods
When preparing the soup there are several ways according the author you follow. Mostly found in each recipe is cabbage, of course, tomatoes and tomato juice, onions, bouillon and onion soup mix.
You can eat all you want of the suggested allowable foods along with cabbage soup eaten twice daily. The allowabe foods that should be used are meat, skim milk, fruits and vegetables. No alcohol at all and drink lots of water.
One word of warning. The high sulfur cabbage and other vegetables may bring about gastrointestinal irritation and gas.
What It Actually Does
What makes the diet work is the fact that it is close to a fast. The cabbage itself is not supernatural to make you lose weight. The low calorie, low fat food is the magic items during that week of using.
Each version of the diet is based on the ideal that eating enough cabbage soup when hungry will do the trick and there are nothing backed by science research.
In the soup diet it is the water lost in the week and no fat is lost. Losing the weight they claim may be lost but will return once you go off the diet and start eating a standard meal.
The calories in this diet are usually 800 to 1100 per day. Some dieters try to eat less than that even though the diet will be boring and become somewhat tasteless.
If you confront a doctor that you are dieting with this diet of less than 1200 calories they may encourage you not to attempt it. After all, eating just cabbage soup and low calorie foods will not provide the nourishment and satisfaction you need.
