Ways To Increase Metabolism

When you have begun learning some of the ways to increase metabolism, you'll want to know what some of the exercise methods and tips are. Since exercise is probably the best and quickest ways to begin charging your metabolism and losing extra weight and fat.

Anything which firms, tones and gains strength in your muscles is a great exercise that boost the metabolism. Cardio workout helps also, since it makes your body begin breaking up excess carbohydrates and fats to furnish the body with extra fuel it requires while you are working out. These workouts maintain you metabolism lit up for hours, however, the actual key is form some muscle strength. You will burn extra calories 24 hours a day on account of toned and solid muscles in your body.

The word exercise, to me, is not what we should be using since it brings about negative intensions in many people's mind. A better word to use is activity, this word implies many different things can be performed. Like fun things which keep us entertained and it will most likely help us keep doing it on a regular basis.

I think the best place to perform the exercise and activities is outside the home or gyms. With the sunshine and all the fresh air will make all the difference in the world. It will affect your mental and physical energy levels in addition to increasing the mood and lowering stress levels.

Following are some suggestions for daily exercises or activities and ways to increase metabolism.

1. Go for a walk.
One of the ways to increase metabolism. This is a wonderful way to add to those muscles, elevate endurance, speed up your heart rate and alleviate stress. Many people do need to get away from their offices or jobs for 10 to 15 minutes a day and can use this to boost metabolism.

Walking in these different ways can help you:

  • Find a way to lunch by walking
  • When shopping in the mall, take time out to walk all around it.
  • Use the local nature, jogging and biking paths.
  • Seek out hiking trails and use them.
  • Walk with your kids to school.
  • Check out the neighborhood by walking it.
  • If you have a dog and you know they need exercise also, walk them a couple times a day.
  • Instead of using the elevator take the stairs to walk up.
  • When driving to a store park at the farthest point from the entrance.

    One additional thought on taking stairs up instead of the elevator. Work up your endurance by starting with taking the elevator up to one floor short of the floor you need. Later on stop at 2 floors away and so on.

    2. Gardening and yard work.
    Is another one of the ways to increase metabolism. I, myself, enjoys doing yard work but there are many that do not. I know that this is contributing to my well being all together. A lot of folks don't know how much work it takes to do yard and gardening activities. Now, if you have ever planted flowers transplants in a garden bed and when you got up the next morning, could hardly get out of bed from being so sore. Making a habit of this can eventually get you in better shape.

    The yard work does not have to consist of carrying heavy rocks and bricks or rigorous ditch digging to have this type of workout benefit you. You will see that these activities will start burning more calories and building more muscle. I have a riding lawn mower but I most of the time use my walk behind mower to mow my lawn. See the difference? Planting flowers or vegetables, weed pulling by hand and trimming bushes and shrubs can be healthful also.

    3. Swimming.
    Still another one of the ways to increase metabolism. Without a doubt swimming can be a really enjoyable way to increase your metabolism if done regularly. Just jump in and swim around, tread water, splash about or perform water aerobics. No need to swimming laps unless this is for you.

    A really good reason to do water activities is that it does not affect the joints that other activities can impact. Over-weight people can find that moving around in water can be tolerated better because of less gravity. Since water makes a resistance for our movements it will greatly increase strengthening and toning for your muscles.

    4. Interval Training
    This is an outstanding way to increase your metabolism. Because of the quick burst of energy you do it teaches the body this conditioning. The interval training is alternating between slower more moderate activity and intense activity. To show you what I mean, go out for a walk for a while then start sprinting for about 30 seconds then slow down to a walk again. If done a couple times a day you will start to notice and increase in your metabolism and burning calories faster.

    We don't realize how smart the body is though. When there is a routine we perform like interval workouts the body re-adjust and adapt rapidly. If for instance, you regularly go out each day and walk for three minutes, sprint for 30 seconds, walk for three minutes again and so on, your body will get used to this routine. And here the body adapts and does not burn as many calories as before.

    5. All sports
    Another more natural method is just go out and play sports you like.

    Sports can be considered a natural type of interval of workouts. For example, with raquetball or tennis, you stand and wait then all of a sudden you are sprinting to hit the ball. Volleyball and table tennis are good examples and quite similar.

    Also having the same randomness of activity are football, baseball and basketball. Here you are jogging from one place to anther, standing at times and then bursting into a run.

    Playing sports and games keeps your activity more random and the body will not be able to adapt as fast or even at all. by doing different things in unexpected ways regularly are ways to increas your metabolism.

    With having said all this, some people, no matter what they do, will have a difficult time losing any weight. If this is your story then something medically related problem may be lurking. However, doctors may some ways to increase metabolism.
